Our April auction brought in a total of $3.22 million, with three pieces by James A.M. Whistler going for spectacular six figure prices. Whistler, and saw works by Albrecht Dürer surpass their high estimates."

Whistler monopolized the top lots with Yellow House, Lannion, and Ross Winans, both made auction records of $125,000 and $118,750 respectively, and Nocturne: Palaces rounded out the last of the six figure prices at $100,000.

Two Doorways and Venus, etchings also by Whistler, each sold for a record of $45,000. Breaking the Whistler stronghold, German printmaker Martin Schongauer's 15th-century engraving The Annunciation made an auction record at $32,500.

This sale also saw great success for another famous German printmaker, Albrecht Dürer, with St. Jerome in his Study selling for nearly twice its high estimate at $57,500, and several other pieces going for well above their estimates.
