Leading the auction is a stellar group of Abstract Expressionist art from the New York school by the likes of Louise Bourgeois, Willem de Kooning, Helen Frankenthaler, Joan Mitchell, Robert Motherwell, Louise Nevelson and Jackson Pollock. A selection of recent works from the past three decades includes prints by Sam Gilliam and Julie Mehretu, as well as a run of paintings and prints by Richard Hambleton. Known for painting hundreds of the figure silhouettes around New York in the 1980s, he later transformed this motif to canvas and works on paper, broadening his reach.
