Previewing By Appointment Only Through Wednesday, September 16

Our annual American Art auction this year includes a robust selection of paintings, watercolors and drawings by premier artists from the late nineteenth century through the mid-twentieth century. Among top lots are fine watercolors by Childe Hassam, and Impressionist scenes from Celia Thaxter’s summer house at Appledore and the Isle of Shoals. A charming oil painting by Anna Mary Robertson “Grandma” Moses, completed at the age of 101, joins an important figurative drawing by Marsden Hartley, and luminous seascapes by Alfred T. Bricher. The auction features visions from the Hudson River School, Impressionism, Regionalism, Social Realism and early Modernism with further works by Severin Roesen, John Marin, and runs of items by Reginald Marsh, Charles Burchfield and Joseph Stella.
