Nineteenth Century Highlights
American Artists
Works by Thomas Hart Benton, Martin Lewis, Louis Lozowick and Grant Wood stand out among an outstanding selection of Modern American printmakers.
Latin American Prints & Drawings
We see Latin American art consistently outperforming expectations each year, and a portion of the catalogue will be devoted to these artists, with work by Roberto Matta, José C. Orozco, Rufino Tamayo and Francisco Zúñiga, as well as Diego Rivera’s 1932 lithograph Open Air School, and a pencil-drawn study for the scene featuring the artist’s unmistakable muralist style: a woman teaches a circle of children and adults against the backdrop of toiling farm workers and an armed man on horseback.
European Works
Work by Modern European masters includes examples by Marc Chagall, Henri Matisse, Joan Miró and Pablo Picasso, as well as a scintillating run of Salvador Dalí and René Magritte, among others.
Exhibition Begins February 29
The exhibition is free to attend and open to the public. We welcome special and educational groups with advance notice—send an inquiry to rsvp@swanngalleries.com.
